Friends of Shrewsbury is proud to bring Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to our community as one of our first major initiatives. Founded in 1995, the Imagination Library has grown into a worldwide literacy program that has delivered hundreds of millions of free books to children. We were delighted to launch our own branch of this wonderful literacy program in January 2026. This free literacy program supports early childhood development by delivering high-quality, age-appropriate books directly to children’s homes each month.
The goal was simple and powerful: help Shrewsbury’s youngest residents build a lifelong love of reading from the very start. By investing in imagination, curiosity, and learning, this program creates lasting impact for families and for the future of our town.
The Shrewsbury Imagination Library is available to children under the age of 5 who live in Shrewsbury, at no cost to participating families.
Shrewsbury's branch of the Imagination Library continues to deliver books to every registered child in our town each month thanks to the generous donations of our supporters. If you or your organization are interested in sponsoring one of the months in our book program or donating to this effort in general, please contact us at friendsofshrewsburyboro@gmail.com
